CGRS Astro Evening

On the evening of Wednesday 31st March, NEAS took part in the astronomy evening event at Colchester Royal Grammar School.

There was a full crowd in attendance and we were initially on hand to talk to guests about astronomy and telescopes.

A talk by Dr Stuart Clark followed – “Do we need a new theory of Gravity?” –  which discussed the needs for refining our current understanding of both Newtonian and Einsteinian gravity, as well as the infamous “Pioneer anomaly”.

Surprisingly, having had poor weather all day, there was enough of a break in the cloud to permit some use of the telescopes – at least briefly to view Mars & Saturn. NEAS members were again on hand to talk to the public (and promote the Society) and all were agreed that it was a quite successful event.

Thanks to all members who took part.
