Starfest II – Robin Scagell: Comets lecture

Here is Robin Scagell’s lecture “Comets Galore” from Starfest. It’s a popular guide to comets, aimed at those with just a little background in astronomy. It covered what they are, why they can be so hard to see and when we might expect to see another really spectacular one. He also looked at the prospects for two possible good comets in 2013: Comet Panstarrs in March and Comet ISON in November and December.

Robin Scagell is the Vice President of the Society for Popular Astronomy and has written several books on the subject, including Stargazing with a Telescope and the Philips Night Sky Atlas.
